The exhibition presents the joyful and colourful sketches designed to decorate the walls of Parisian schools from 1880 to 1935. These sketches conserved at the Petit Palais illustrate the iconic role of decor in the implementation of modern thinking applied to education and the environment of the child. These commissions by artists were carried out at the initiative of the city of Paris for the sake of "simplicity, joy and youth."
In the exhibition, children and adults alike will find the familiar world of the local school symbolically represented by the places most representative of school life: the playground and the classroom. Each space has original works, photographic, multi-sensory and fun installations.
