Photographies, are so familiar that they often pass to be immediately intelligible. And yet, most of them caused a brief astonishment or perplexity that endures, and the feeling that we are faced with a wonder rather than evidence.

Building on a personal collection of pictures of all time gleaned over the years, anonymous, unknown, forgotten by authors or amateur, images of press, which escape classification, aesthetics and museumification, Michel Frizot, historian in photography, has a look that goes against the criteria of history, art and excellence.
