Roaming through the strange house of Professor Shadow, children can explore the many scientific and artistic aspects of shadows in an entertaining series of experiments.
L’ombre à la portée des enfants is an exhibition for children from 5 to 12 which offers an artistic, scientific and poetical journey. As soon as they enter the exhibition, children are taken into a fiction created around a house and its landlord : Archibald Ombre, a teacher, dreamer, poet and collector of shadows. Archibald is not home but every room in the house is a testimony of his passion and reveals part of its mystery : the shadow of the moving body in the living-room, the shadow as an object of curiosity in what used to be his bedroom, the shadow as an experiment object in the laboratory, the plastic shadow in the kitchen, the shadow leading the way to the stars and the imagination in the greenhouse and the garden. Every room, every setting is a casket in which shadows are embellished, where they escape from banality to become a center of attention, of emotion and of creation.
