Reykjavik celebrates the medium photography with this small museum only dedicated to it. With 2 small rooms its collection consists of photographs, items and documents related to the practice of photography, by professional and amateur photographers.

The collection can be roughly divided into press-landscape and portrait photography collections, along with industrial and commercial photography. Also the museum collects the works of contemporary photographers and artists, who use photography as medium. The oldest photograph, owned by the museum, is from ca. 1870 and the most recent from ca. 2002.
