Tube : King's Cross/St Pancras (Northern, Victoria, Piccadilly, Hammersmith, Metropolitan & Circle line), Euston (Northern & Victoria line).

You are entering a major research site with not less than over 150 million items from many countries, in many languages and in many formats, both print and digital: books, manuscripts, journals, newspapers, magazines, sound and music recordings, videos, play-scripts, patents, databases, maps, stamps, prints, drawings.

In fact, the Library's collections include around 14 million books, along with substantial holdings of manuscripts and historical items dating back as far as 2000 BC. This makes the place one of the two largest libraries in the world, the other being the Library of Congress of the United States.

Today, as a legal deposit library, the British Library receives copies of all books produced in the United Kingdom and Ireland. On top of this it also includes a significant proportion of overseas titles distributed in the UK.

All year round some great exhibitions are hold in some rooms, each one focusing on some special topics that are directly linked with their collections. The topics are really diverse and the periods covered too.
