Somerset House is a large Neoclassical building designed by Sir William Chambers in 1776, and further extended with Victorian wings. The place is a major arts and cultural centre in the heart of London and host all year round major venues.
If Somerset House also hosts exhibition from the Courtauld Institute it possesses its own programme of temporary exhibitions in the Embankment Galleries which focus on contemporary fashion, architecture, photography and design. A programme of free public displays runs also alongside the major exhibitions in the Terrace and Courtyard Rooms and East Wing Galleries.
