Tube : Hôtel de ville (1, 11).

This huge building with impressive sculptures and decorations is the seat of the Paris City Council. The first municipality was founded in 1246 (Saint-Louis). Nowadays, the Paris City Hall is still located on the site of the former city hall which burnt down in 1871 during the "Commune" of Paris.

It's possible to visit to the town hall itself, a powerful and prestigious place. Guided tours are offered by reservation only and are organized by the city’s Protocol Department. Visitors can discover the function room, created as a replica of the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles.

But the place is most known for welcoming free major exhibitions most often with a link to Paris.
