From Central Station free ‘Buiksloterweg’ ferry across the IJ harbour.

Modern complex by the side of the river, the EYE institute is a spacious Arena offering a panoramic and filmic view of the river and the city and can be visited free of charge. EYE is the first major cultural institution to make the leap across the IJ. It strives to be the ‘house of film’ and a modern museum.

The building opened to public in 2012 build by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects.

There is a free permanent exhibition dedicated to the the technological development of films. Tickets for film screenings and for temporary exhibitions are on sale at the front desk.
