Tube : Barbican (Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith Line), Moorgate (Northern line, Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith Line).

The Barbican Art Gallery is from the outside, a fairly good example of Brutalism Architecture in London. Built in the 60s and 70s after the area was severely damaged and destroyed during the Blitz, the Court of Common Council decided to build some new residential area and cultural places within the City.

The Art Center is located within the same area. The complex contains the Barbican public library, the City of London School for Girls, the Museum of London, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The Art center itself presents an international and dynamic mix of art, architecture, design, fashion and photography.

There is no permanent collections but from acclaimed architects to Turner prize-winning artists, it exhibits all year round innovators of the 20th and 21st centuries: key figures who have shaped development and stimulated change.
