The Fondation Cartier is one of the few trendy place in Paris only dedicated to contemporary art that give you a chance to discover great contemporary artists through memorable temporary exhibitions.
If the foundation was first established in Jouy-en-Josas near Versailles, in 1994 it moved into this amazing new building in central Paris designed especially by Jean Nouvel. The airy glass and steel building is a highlight in the French capital.
The Fondation expresses Cartier’s commitment to the arts as a corporate patron. Cartier is a pioneer in the field and has invest on an unrivalled scale to promote the art of its time. The museum was created in 1984 by the Cartier SA firm as a center for contemporary art with the aim to present exhibits by established artists, and to offer young artists a chance to debut, and incorporates works into its collection.
Through the year, the museum displays exhibits of contemporary and international artists, and has already exhibited over 1000 works by 300 artists.
